About:
I was raised on a dairy farm in Northeast Wisconsin and grew up working in the construction trades. I was involved in commercial excavation site work, road and bridge building, and both residential and commercial developments. I owned an industrial coatings company for 25 years that served the manufacturing industry. One of the companies that we shipped parts to was Caterpillar here in Wamego.
After visiting the area, it really struck me how friendly and conservative-minded the people are here. It felt a lot like home. I sold my business in 2015 and moved my family to Kansas. I currently work as facilities Director on a large academic campus in Saint Marys where I develop and execute long-term campus planning, facilities improvement, and maintenance. I recently completed a 5-year, $42-million church project in Saint Marys, working on the project from conception through design, and helping to guide the project to full completion, on-time, and on-budget. Over the past 8 years, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and work with a lot of great local people: contractors, engineers, and business leaders from the Wamego, Saint Marys, and Manhattan communities. I look forward to working with these people again, as well as the Pottawatomie County department staff if I am elected. Working for a nonprofit organization for the last 8 years has made me keenly aware of the importance of using resources prudently. Wasteful spending is not an option. It’s bad business, and it’s the wrong thing to do. This principle guides every professional decision that I make.
I have 4 married children and 8 grandchildren. My children live and work in the Manhattan, Wamego, Belvue and Saint Marys communities. I have an interest in their future here and intend to play an active and positive role in the future growth of the County we all live in. I believe based on my work history, business background, skillset, and principles that I have the experience and knowledge to contribute at a high level in the role of commissioner.
Thank you.
